Yezelalem Minch

Meaning everlasting spring in Amharic, the primary language of Ethiopia, yezelalem minch comes from the Old Testament:

“If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed… The Lord will guide you always… You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”

– Isaiah 58:10-11

Yezelalem Minch + YZM USA

Yezelalem Minch (affectionally called “YZM”) is an Ethiopian non-profit, non-governmental organization providing comprehensive care for orphaned and vulnerable children in multiple communities in and around the capital city of Addis Ababa. Started in 2001 by Birtukan Sinshaw and her husband, Nesibu Kebede, YZM has grown tremendously. There are currently more than 1,600 children enrolled in the program. Learn more about YZM »

There are a myriad of ways to participate in the ministry of YZM, even while living thousands of miles away in North America – or indeed, around the world. Certainly, while there are also many in-country supporters, a good portion of YZM’s operating budget is generated through child sponsorship and other international partnerships. As the US Advisory Board for Yezelalem Minch, we wanted to provide a simple resource for our North American friends and supporters to easily find channels of support and opportunities for involvement in this life-changing ministry.

This is a grassroots effort in many ways, and it is incredible to see what God is doing. We’d love for you to be a part of the team! Please bookmark this page and sign up for our email list. We’ll do our best to keep you updated with events, activities, and ideas that will allow you to affect change in the lives of children and widows in Ethiopia.
